Another beautiful launch this morning of Shuttle Atlantis (@STS125) into space to dock-up and work on the Hubble Telescope.
I have to say, if the only channel I could get in HD was NASA (or HDnet when they broadcast the NASA feed), I’d be pretty content. With the quick adoption of twitter with geeks, you can bet there were a few people twitpick’n from The Cape.
On-the-Scene Twitpics of Shuttle Launch
The Atlantis Space Shuttle successfully launched Monday at 2:01 Eastern time from Cape Canaveral, Florida headed for the Hubble Space Telescope.
One of the last shuttle flights NASA will attempt, the mission will service and repair the world’s most famous orbiting eye, so that it can continue taking beautiful pictures of the universe for a few more years, hopefully at least until Hubble’s successor, the James Webb Space Telescope, is hanging in the firmament, sometime during 2013.
While shuttle launches are well covered by major media organizations, there’s always been a dedicated group of amateurs who want to be as close as possible whenever man makes for the stars.

Twitter Spam, Annoying.
One thing I miss about twitter POE (or as I call it – Pre Oprah Era) was the absense of people who just use it to spam their links. There’s nothing worse than trying to be nice and offer the simple act of following someone back to see what they have to say and getting crap like this shortly after:
As a rule, I follow everyone back who follows me, I’m not an Internets rockstar and feel like I have to be an idiot to the world like, most, everyone, else, does. That is, of course, excluding Colbert. However in my book, the minute i get these, that constitutes a swift reply mentioning how annoyed I am with people who abuse twitter for that, followed by a block. It’s not much but, hey, why not make a point.
With great popularity, comes great abuse online.
