Podcast Quote of the Day

I decided rather than complaining about being tired of the music I’m getting bored with, I’d just start from the beginning of all the Podcasts from Artists/DJ’s & Bands that I like.  I started with The Young Punx for no reason other than I needed some variety today, and came across this awesome quote that made my afternoon:

The Young Punx FM – Episode 6 (Mostly house music!) – around 5:45 in the episode

You can tell its house music because they’re talking about being “taken higher”.  There are now officially 3332 house tracks featuring “take me higher” or “moving up”. This song being a double whammy since it features both phases in it, in many ways making it the ultimate house song ever.

Just be thankful it doesn’t rhyme ‘fire’ & ‘desire’ with ‘higher’.

Of course this was in late 2007, makes me wonder what that number is today.

Danny @ Coachella

One of my (many) favorite parts of the weekend was when Danny Tenaglia played the Timmy Regisford quentin harris remix of R.E.M. – Loosing My Religion as his last track. The vid I shot doesn’t do the quality of the sound justice, but if you could feel the energy of that place, you’d be right there with me.

 

 

Just to mention, we were pretty close at this point, there was probably another football field of tent behind us of people rocking the hell out.

 

I found a higher quality sample of the track here (direct audio link), some people in forums think it’s horrible, I beg to disagree. At least in this set, it was magic.

A Sunset Moment

For my friends who know me, you know with as much as I love music, I have one goal I haven’t got to yet, and that’s to make it to Ibiza one day. For as long as I’ve had DSL, I’ve listened to Radio 1 and hoped to one day get to Europe. I’ve gotten close but it’s still one of those places I can’t wait to make it to in the world.

When I think about the perfect vacation, for me, witnessing something like this performace would constitute one more reason to die happy. I may sound crazy for saying that, but thats how much it means to me to make it there one day.

Last november Pete Tong had Steve Edwards do a live acoustic performance for his Essential Selection show that they did live on the beach for a “Sunset Moment”. I found the liveset late last year and finally tracked down a clip. Now, I’m really determined.
