June 4th, 2009 jimcarter Amidst the hundreds of things I keep on my to-do list, one thing I still wish I could find time for is finishing getting all my photos together from my China Trip last year. It was by far one of the most inspirational and eye-opening vacation’s I’ve ever taken. We stopped by Tiananmen Square one of our first days there and here are a few of the photos I took that show how I best took in this amazing place. Enjoy.

May 17th, 2009 jimcarter Our little guys have already started sprouting bigger beaks, growing feathers and probably doubled in size. Let me remind you that the size of this nest is no more than 2-3 inches wide. Hold your index finger to your thumb.. yea, that small.

Spring is in the Air
May 13th, 2009 jimcarter About a month ago we noticed that a hummingbird was building a next right outside the back window on our deck here at the house. The crazy thing is she started building the nest on top of a lightbulb fixture from a set of string lights we have hanging. Totally random spot. A little while later she laid 2 eggs and just last night we had twins. I waited all morning for her to fly off to go get some food, pulled out a ladder and jumped up there with my 50mm to snap a quick shot. These little guys aren’t even a day old. Be sure to look at the full-size to really see all the detail. By far the highlight of my week.

April 23rd, 2009 jimcarter I decided rather than complaining about being tired of the music I’m getting bored with, I’d just start from the beginning of all the Podcasts from Artists/DJ’s & Bands that I like. I started with The Young Punx for no reason other than I needed some variety today, and came across this awesome quote that made my afternoon:
The Young Punx FM – Episode 6 (Mostly house music!) – around 5:45 in the episode
You can tell its house music because they’re talking about being “taken higher”. There are now officially 3332 house tracks featuring “take me higher” or “moving up”. This song being a double whammy since it features both phases in it, in many ways making it the ultimate house song ever.
Just be thankful it doesn’t rhyme ‘fire’ & ‘desire’ with ‘higher’.
Of course this was in late 2007, makes me wonder what that number is today.
Photosynth is Browser Compliant

After a long and painful (for me at least) wait, photosynth finally works simply in the browser with no fuss. When they announced it earlier in the year (around January I think) i couldn’t even get it working in IE. I got all kinds of fun issues about my browser being unsupported. Nothing like a Microsoft site not working in a Microsoft browser eh? Anyhow, I’m looking forward to wasting a few hours on this later today and hopefully starting up a few of them. In other news: Flickr add face recognition
That reminds me that I need to pickup the new iLife package soon. Finally a good reason to use iPhoto with the geolocaiton & facial recog. features. Seeing as google added it into their image search and now this, the i can see the trend beginning already.
