Tubes: Time to Clog ‘em

The Tubes are open. If you remember a few back I posted about this new file-sharing app that was in the works.. it’s finally available for download on a public release.

Tubes

Tubes is a new social sharing application that just went live today at TubesNow.com – it was originally at this URL during development. We’re not big fans of downloadable apps, mainly because they clog up the test machines and because users tend to have the same hesitancy to download new software they might never use (apart from BitTorrent clients and Skype, how many downloadable apps have hit it big?). That said, we took the Windows-only Tubes program, which also requires the .NET framework, for a spin today.

It’s a pretty good peer to peer file sharing application with a clean interface. The “Tubes” metaphor, meanwhile, refers to shared folders which can include photos, audio, video clips and links. Invite users to a Tube and they’ll automatically receive any new files that are added – invited authors can also add their own files.

System Requirements:
Microsoft Windows XP running Service Pack 2 + Microsoft .NET Framework

Register Here and let me know if you signup. This looks pretty promising for group file-sharing.
