Science is full of shit

So this is what we pay our hard earned dollars for.. Millions and millions a year for these studies that 90% of the time prove what we already know, and 9% of the time they’re right. But what about that sliver of the pie that yields fun results like this? Make up your damned mind already!

Comdex Cancelled.. again

Comdex Cancelled Again – Yahoo! News

Comdex 2005 was cancelled despite the efforts of its owner MediaLive International Inc. to take the conference out of limbo. The tradeshow, which is traditionally held in Las Vegas, Nev., in November, was cancelled last year for the first time after 25 years.

In a statement, MediaLive said it had been working “diligently to determine how Comdex can best meet the future needs of the industry.”

Dude, what the hell? I really wanted to go this year since last year was a bust. (no punn intended on that – seeing as it was held at the same time as the AVN conference) ;) But seriously. I’ve only been there once, and that was right out of highschool. Hell, the year i was there Microsft was launching it’s billion$ .NET services.

I remember sitting in on a few of the walkthrough’s and tutorials. wow, the thought of an all inclusive system that remembers who you were and a new programming platform was so unreal at the time. Hell, 6 years later now I’m building my own, it’s kind of crazy. I also remember that was one of the first years LCD Flatpannel monitors were getting popular. Haha, $2,500 for a 15″ LCD… ahh the good ‘ole days.

MySQL reaches beta

MySQL reaches beta – ZDNet UK News

“It’s the most important release we’ve ever done in the company,” Axmark added.

Dude, watch out SQL Server, MySQL is rippin’ a new one in the industry with Stored Procedures, triggers & views. This can open a new world of difference for developers like me who dont feel like paying $2,000 a processor on my server to Microsoft for SQLServer.

New Longhorn Screenies

Just about to roll out to Mom & Dad’s for the weekend and noticed we were blessed with some new screenshots of Longhorn’s newest build 20721:

  • Windows Explorer
  • Quick Search filters and thumbnails in the corner

  • Fast Search
  • Fast Search results let you sort by custom 20721 metadata

  • “Stacks”
  • Stacks let you dynamically group documents and files so you can view 20721 in multiple ways.

Don’t know about you but looks pretty sweet to me. Also seems like their fast search is going to give spotlight a run for it’s dolla.

In any case, im out, have a great Easter!

Was pok’n around my file server this morning and figured I’d post another pic. Recently I’ve been a good mood about photography. Really wish I had more time to get out there and take more pictures. One of these days my new site will be done. That is if i can get my lazy ass around to it.
